Continuing my hit and miss media wall wardrobe choices. Here I share with you more fashion mistakes I hope you don’t make, and of course, some nice ones that I think were on point for the occasion. Let’s take a look…
Cowgirl VS Activewear

What’s the common denominator between cowgirl style and activewear? The answer is probably either ‘none’ or ‘very little’. Anyway, the cowgirl look was what I chose for P.E Nation’s launch party at General Pants, a jeans store in Bondi Westfield back in 2016. I have to say that my cowgirl ensemble did stand out in a sea of sporty crops, tanks; tights, shorts and bombers. The highlight of the night was definitely being able to meet and congratulate P.E Nation’s founders and designers Pip Edwards and Claire Tregoning.
Raffles International Showroom

First of all, what is the Raffles International Showroom? Well it’s a meet the designers and an on-the-rack preview of the garments for the upcoming runway show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA). Media, including bloggers get to have some one-on-one time with the fashion designers from Raffles College; learning about the inspirations behind their work. The 2016 showroom had a sizable media wall facing Oxford Street. So… here I am, showcasing runway pieces by designer Anne de la Motte with Anne herself! I was (and still am) happy with my total look that night. From my French plaits to flats – I wouldn’t change a thing!
Winning in Black But Missing Gold

Reebonz celebrated its third Australian anniversary at their George Street flagship store back in 2016. Kent was booked as the event’s official photographer. It was a chilly night, so I added a black velvet coat on top of my coral dress. In a moment of mad inspiration, instead of choosing gold accessories like I usually would, I went all out for silver. Kent is inclined to consider dressing well for events to be doing more than enough, this cavalier attitude left us completely unaware of the evening’s theme. Well it turned out that the theme of the celebration was Black and Gold and I almost completely missed the brief.

That’s right, Kent having not closely read, and my having never seen the invitation! That had never been a problem until now. I jokingly mentioned this on vivalaViv: ‘…it was a who’s who of social media big names, Instagram sensations and the store’s VIP customers; who, mostly attended in black and gold sartorial splendour (they had read the memo obviously)…’ I still remember, horror of horrors, everyone who came up to me asking: ‘Where is your gold?’ Fellow blogger Christopher Haggarty gave me a gold tip that evening, saying: ‘Champagne can be your gold!’… sweet! While we all had a ball at the party, I learnt an important lesson there and then – ALWAYS check the dress code and the theme (if there is one) before attending an event. I think Kent now has, maybe he has learnt that one too.
A Pair Of Rare Birds At Jaybird Freedom Launch

Yes we were the only two guests wearing hats, and not just any hats for the Jaybird Freedom launch at Kings Cross Boxing Works. I like both of our sartorial choices for the event, and we are always happy to be the rare birds in the crowd!
Gender Neutral For Crbn

The runway show of Crbn (known as crbn) S/S 2016/2017 creations happened at the same night as Jaybird Freedom launch. By the time Kent and I arrived the aMBUSH Exhibition Space, where the fashion parade took place, we saw only the tail end. While missing out on the parade of gender neutral Sydney clothing label’s first collection, we did bump into fellow blogger Jill Wright. Judging by this image, our looks were rather gender-fluid, don’t you think?!
Nothing Says Spring Is Here Like A Rosy Flower ‘Media’ Wall

The Watershed Hotel in Darling Harbour knows how to throw a party! Their spring menu tasting, champagne sipping and Cuban cigar smoking – accompanied by live music playing in the background. Not only did the rosy flower ‘media’ wall look pretty; it definitely said ‘spring is here’! Unfortunately it was a very cold spring day (Sydney standard) and we all turned up with our wintry outfits. My faux fur coat won me the most compliments that night; whereas my ankle boots? – they should be replaced by heels IMMEDIATELY!!
Party Up A Storm With My Convenient Throw Together

Ultimate Ears threw a mega party for the launch of its PartyUp app in Carriageworks (click here for details). Human robots, flame throwing performances; celebrity DJ, cityscape projections; pop up bar and coloured mist… you name it, they had it! While Kent looked pretty cool and chic, I wish I could turn back time, change my hairdo, the dress; my bag and those heels (the leather jacket can stay though). The problem with my Outfit-of-the-Night was that it didn’t tell a story, nor was it eye-catching enough. It’s like the result of a convenient throw together which it probably was. That was a missed opportunity, I should have partied up a storm in a really wowing number!
Well, I hope you enjoy this Series Two of Hit and Miss Moments of My Media Wall Wardrobe. As we continue to be going through this pandemic, experiencing the mask wearing, social distancing and travel restrictions of the last 15 months… it has all made me appreciate the good old days of mixing and parties so much more! Let’s hope those pleasant days will return sooner rather than later. Meanwhile, keep healthy and safe and stay tuned for White Caviar Life’s upcoming post.
