Before I created White Caviar Life, Kent’s Street Fashion Sydney and my vivalaViv blogs collaborated on many occasions including photoshoots. Kent’s fashion photography style to me is high-energy, with emphasis on natural movement, excitement and emotional connection – this can flow through to his portraits and street fashion shoots too. Whereas my self portraits, seemingly influenced by the ’80s and ’90s… Let me put it this way, my concepts are more static and formal. I am a poser.
Kent and I sometimes have a differing vision of how the end result of a photoshoot should look and how we will get there. These opinions can range from small on-the-fly issues, like the use of fashion accessories, to major ones like choice of location to time of day and truth be told, we’ve had our fair share of creative disagreements. Over the past few years we have learnt to listen to each other so we can set a course to a successful outcome. OK it doesn’t happen overnight, it comes with experience and learning, mutual respect for one another and of course, trust. On this Sydney winter story, I proposed my idea to Kent asking for his take on a street fashion photoshoot for me. Yes, energy, movement and emotion… I want them all!
As for my Outfit of the Day… True to my mix and match approach, my aim was to combine different yet complementary items to form a coordinated set. This look is a mixed bag of high-fashion and vintage; items from Saks Fifth Avenue to Beijing Silk Market and everything in between. Sydney winter is mostly mild but on the day of shooting, it was colder than usual, making it a perfect day to layer up.
Urban, blogger mode; a woman on a move full of emotions… Feeling inspired? I hope you are. If you fancy a street fashion portrait and would like to book a gifted photographer to help you share your story to the world… Why not contact Kent and discuss your photoshoot idea today!
