Notes Regarding The Shoot

But first, you may recognize this location – our Deluxe King Room in Lilianfels Resort & Spa. There are many benefits you get from shooting in a hotel room, such as weatherproofing, and you get a particular mood depending on the decor. In this case, the colouring of our room echoed my white, pink, and red ensemble. The charm of the bygone era also suits my retro fashion choice.

My New Year’s Resolutions

Since it’s my first post of 2023, it’s the first opportunity to share my new year’s resolutions. There were many things in my mind that I wished to do differently this year. Here I narrow it down to six, and they are:

1) Get My Priorities Right

This would make sense to you if you were a worrier person like me. I tend to worry about little things too much, and spend way too much time and energy on small details that don’t matter much. My ‘everything must be equally perfect’ manner slows me down on every project I take on. This has made me realise that I have become the person who saves a tree but lost the forest. I know it’s very hard to adopt a new behavior pattern but I believe by acknowledging it, there is hope to change.

2) Take At Least One Short Course

Although not going to school doesn’t mean you stop learning, I do miss learning in a structural environment. The fact that you could meet some like-minded people and even make some friends is just an extra bonus!

3) Write More Letters

Before the internet took off, I used to love writing letters to my relatives and friends. During Sydney’s COVID-19 lockdown in 2020 and 2021, I picked up letter writing again simply because I suddenly gained so much time staying at home. Not only did I enjoy it, those who received my letters also told me how much they prefer them to emails. This year I definitely want to write more, there’s something about writing with a pen and paper I find rather therapeutic.

4) Buy Clothes Only To Help Styling My Existing Garments

In the last few years, I bought some new outfits purely because I liked them, or I didn’t want to miss out on a great bargain. From a recent photoshoot, I finally had an opportunity to wear one of my favourite skirts from the ’90s… thanks to a new top and a new pair of heeled sandals to complete the styling puzzle that was missing in all these years. My point is, if I shop mindfully and invest in the right piece of clothing, it will help to give some of my old outfits a new lease of life!

5) Let Go Of More Unused Items

As a hoarder, it is a challenge to live in a small apartment. (Or perhaps it is a blessing to live in a small space so you know there’s a limit?) While I’m getting better at letting things go by donating bags of stuff to charity, new things just kept coming home with me and piling up… As Kent often points out: ‘Whenever you add on one thing, think about what you need to get rid of.’ Yes, Kent. But knowing and doing are two different things.

6) Eat More Vegetables, Smile More, And Practice Work/Life Balance

As much as they might seem like three separate things, I think they are all in the ‘well-being’ category. These words explain themselves, there is nothing for me to add.

How about you? Do you believe in making new year’s resolutions? If so, what are your resolutions this year? And if not, why do you think it’s pointless?
